NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Dayton men's golf has been selected to win the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship in the league's annual Championship Poll, which was released Friday ahead of the start of A-10 Match play, which begins Monday, Feb. 20. La Salle garnered 28 votes and was picked 10th.
The Flyers garnered five first-place votes in the poll, which was conducted among the league's head golf coaches. Richmond, the runner up in the previous two championships, was picked second in this 2017 poll with 109 points, just behind Dayton and three-time defending champion VCU finished third in the poll with 100 points and two first-place votes.Â
Rhode Island was picked fourth in the poll with 94 points and two first-place votes. George Mason was selected fifth with 78 points and George Washington had 60 points for sixth place. Davidson (55 points), St. Bonaventure (36 points) were picked seventh and eight respectively, while Saint Joseph's, the Explorers and Fordham rounded out the poll.
La Salle begins the spring season on March 19-20 at the Cape Fear Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State.
