NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle freshman Sofilia Ngwafang was named A-10 Rookie of the Week for her performances against Rhode Island and George Washington last week, it was announced Monday.
 
The Silver Spring, Md. native averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds last week for the Explorers. Ngwafang had 11 points, including six in the final 1:06 to help the Explorers seal a tight win at Rhode Island Wednesday before going for a season-high 18 points against George Washington Saturday.
 
Ngwafang had six rebounds against Rhody and another three against the Colonials. The 6-4 center finished the week shooting an efficient 50.0% (9-for-18) from the floor.
 
La Salle is on the road for both games next week, starting with a Tuesday night matchup at St. Bonaventure before a Big 5 showdown at Saint Joseph's on Sunday.
