Griffin, Miller Earn Big 5 Honors

PHILADELPHIA – Big 5 leading scorer Amy Griffin was named All-Philadelphia Big 5 First Team while Adreana Miller will be honored as the league's best free throw shooter, it was announced Tuesday.
 
Griffin adds the accolade to an Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team selection and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference Second Team nod. The junior averaged 19.6 points per game to lead the A-10 and Big 5 in scoring for the second straight season.
 
The Atlanta, Ga. native averaged 6.2 rebounds per game and finished in the top 10 in A-10 with 1.8 blocked shots per game (5th) and 1.7 steals per game (7th).
 
Miller finished 70-for-79 from the foul line (88.6 percent), and will be recognized as the Big 5's leading free throw shooter. The sophomore also paced the A-10 from the foul line on the way to averaging 10.1 points per game.
 
The Big 5 banquet is set for Monday, April 17, at The Palestra. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Along with the current season men's and women's award winners, the 2017 Big Five Hall of Fame class will be inducted. This year's class includes Carlene Hightower (La Salle), Ibrahim Jaaber (Penn), Jameer Nelson (Saint Joseph's), Lynn Greer (Temple), Randy Foye (Villanova), George Raveling (Villanova) and longtime Philadelphia Inquirer sportswriter Bill Lyon.
