Explorers Set New School Record on Day One of Penn Relays

Penn Relays

Women's Track and Field | April 27, 2017

FULL RESULTS

PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle women's track and field team made a strong debut at the 2017 Penn Relays on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania as the only relay team to compete for the Blue and Gold on opening day.

A 4x100m relay team of Ariel Mitchell, Jessica Bryant, Desirae Osley and anchor Amber Jenkins set a new school record at Weaver Stadium on Friday, April 27.

The squad got La Salle off on a high note when they crossed the line in a cumulative time of 47.88 from lane two in the seventh flight of the day.

The Explorers finished 39th overall, just a slim .02 seconds behind Findlay in the field of 79 teams. La Salle's young squad consisting of a pair of rookies, one junior and a sophomore topped 40 additional teams in the program's successful first day.

La Salle women will resume racing on Saturday, when Morgan Szekely competes in the one mile collegiate event. The race is slated for 3:05 PM and all results will be available through the official Penn relays website: http://pennrelaysonline.com/Results/schedule.aspx.
