Women's Golf Plays 36 Holes on Opening Day of Navy Invite

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The La Salle University women's golf team completed the first day of the Navy Invitational in 10th place, after completing 36 holes on Saturday. The Explorers put together a team round of 332 over the final 18 holes of the day, a 19-stroke improvement from their opening round.

Redshirt freshman Marybelle Daclan totaled 163 and is in 40th position overall to lead La Salle. Freshman Franca Hurtado posted the top 18-hole score of any Explorer, shooting 80 on her second round and completing 36 holes in a tie for 45th individually. 

Sophomore Rebecca Smith cut six shots off her first-round score and is at 176 heading into Sunday, while senior Mariam Colon (180) and freshman Gina Lizzo (186) comprised spots four and five for the Explorers.

Richmond leads the Navy Invitational through 36 holes by 15 strokes over the host school, and Navy's Christine McDonnell holds a three-shot lead of the individual competition over a pair of golfers.

The third and final round of the Navy Invitational will take place on Sunday, Sept. 17.
