PHILADELPIHA- Field hockey assistant coach
Kristina Foster was promoted to an associate head coach last week as 2017 conference play opened. Foster will serve alongside head coach Michelle Marks-Salmi after six years as an assistant for the Explorers.
The Tabernacle, N.J. native joined the staff in 2011 as graduate assistant coach, leading the team to their first Atlantic 10 tournament bid since 1997. She joined the program full time in 2012 as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Blue and Gold.
Since then, she has seen 23 players named to All-Conference teams and helped La Salle to its best finish in the A-10 with a 5-2 record in 2014. This season, Foster has guided La Salle to a 4-2 start in her new position.
"I am excited to fulfill my responsibilities as associate head coach and continue contributing to the La Salle field hockey program," said Foster. "Teaching and mentoring these young women is such a passion of mine, so I feel honored to be able to make a difference both on and off the field."
Foster and the team will return to the field on Friday, Sept. 22 when the team continues Atlantic 10 play against Davidson at 5:30 p.m. in Davidson, N.C.
