PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's and women's cross country teams will enter the 44
th Annual Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
The men will be one of 41 teams in the 8k race that will begin at 11 AM. The teams competing include nationally-ranked Iona (10), Georgetown (17) and Columbia (28).
The women's 6k race will begin at 11:45 AM, and features four nationally ranked Division I programs in Villanova (15), Utah State (21), Georgetown (23) and Mississippi State (24).
La Salle is coming off the Iona Meet of Champions on September 15, where the women finished fourth and the men placed sixth.
The event is named after Paul Short, a former Lehigh student-athlete and coach in four sports, who passed away in 1967. The meet features 14 races with a total of 6,000 athletes from 450 colleges and high schools.
After the Paul Short Run, the Explorers will split duty on October 14. Part of the team will compete in the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette while part runs in the Princeton Invitational.
