NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The La Salle University cross country program swept the Atlantic 10 Conference Most Outstanding Rookie Performer awards over the weekend.
Freshmen
Ibrahim Kedir and
Liz Mancini took top rookie honors from the A-10 on Saturday as the league's top freshman finishers in the men's and women's races. The two were also named to the the A-10 All-Rookie Teams, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Kedir, the A-10 Rookie of the Week back on Sept. 18, has been the La Salle men's top finisher in three of their last four races. He placed fourth on Saturday with a time of 24:51.4 to guide the men's team to a runner-up finish in the team standings. The Toronto, Ontario, native also earned all-conference honors in his first-ever A-10 Championship.
Mancini also collected all-conference accolades in her A-10 Championship debut to help the women's team finish fourth in the team standings. She crossed the finish line in 17:47.3 to place 14th among 130 runners. The Media, Pa., product has consistently been the women's team's second finisher in each of the Explorers' five races this year.
