Box Score PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's lacrosse team (2-4) was downed in a highly defensive game on Monday at Temple (5-3). The two teams scored a combined 12 goals in Temple's 8-4 defeat of the Explorers.
Lynne Frankel continued to play well. The netminder allowed just 11 goals to Vanderbilt's national top-scoring offense last week and followed it up with 12 saves against the Owls.
Bridget Ruskey scored three times and continues to lead the Atlantic 10 in scoring among freshman. With 17 goals this season, she's currently tied with teammate
Brittany Edwards for third in scoring overall.
Ruskey scored the Explorers' first two goals of the game, but each time the Owls had answers. Her first goal came just over eight minutes into the game while her second, which was assisted by
Mikki Raymond, led the Explorers into the half with some momentum.
La Salle was struck down by Temple's defense in the second half. It wasn't until the 5:20 mark that they would find the back of the net again when Edwards scored. Less than a minute later, Ruskey netted her third.
Ruskey also picked up two ground balls and secured five draw controls.
Abbey Meehan continued to do damage to the opposition, as she's done all season. The fifth year senior led the team in grounders (four) and caused turnovers (three).Â
Next up, La Salle travels to Manhattan on Friday to take on the Jaspers in a non-conference matchup at 1:00 PM.Â
