RICHMOND, Va. – The La Salle University women's track and field team put together a strong performance at the Fred Hardy Invitational over the weekend, posting 14 individual top-10 finishes and a pair of victories.
Amber Jenkins led the way individually, winning the 400-meter sprint with a time of 57.86.
Ariel Mitchell,
Chidinma Matthew,
Jessica Bryant and
Marissa Francis also teamed up to capture the 4x100-meter relay title at 47.92.
Bryant earned a runner-up finish in the long jump as well with a leap of 5.61 meters. Mitchell finished third in the 100-meter dash at 12.25, and Matthew placed seventh with a time of 12.68.
Grace Mancini placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:35.05, while
Emily Ward was ninth at 4:44.09.
Kaitlin Poiesz ran the 3,000 meters in 10:07.74 to take third place in the event.
Ifetayo Tyler was fourth in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:13.25, and
Makayla Eberly finished seventh at 2:17.05.
Desirae Osley placed fifth in the 400 meters at 1:00.20, while
Ciaron Williams was ninth at 1:04.89. Jenkins, Matthew and Mitchell also posted top-10 finishes in the 200-meter dash.
In the 4x800-meter relay,
Allana Powlette,
Lexi Sciortino, Ward and Mancini teamed up for a second place finish with a time of 9:50.81.
The Explorers will partake in the Sam Howell Princeton Invitational next weekend.
