PHILADELPHIA - After playing six of its last seven games on the road, La Salle ends their tough stretch with two home games this weekend. The Explorers take on Duquesne on Friday at 7:00 as part of La Salle's spring tailgate series with food and giveaways during the game. They finish the weekend with St. Bonaventure on Sunday morning at 11:30 AM.
The Dukes (3-8, 1-3 A-10) have just three wins this season but two of them have come on the road. Earlier this season, they scored a season-high 24 goals against St. Bonaventure. Despite dropping their last three contests, Duquesne still ranks fifth in the conferencing in scoring. Senior attacker Jill Vacanti paces the offense with 25 goals this season.
Meanwhile, the Bonnies (0-12, 0-4 A-10) have struggled this season. Their last win, however, did come against La Salle in a 15-14 overtime victory last season. A key to stopping St. Bonaventure will be defending Rylee Arnold. With 24 scores this season, she has almost a third of her team's total goals.
La Salle has a great opportunity to bounce back this weekend. The duo of
Brittany Edwards and
Bridget Ruskey rank third and fourth in the conference in scoring with 36 and 34 goals. The senior/freshman combo can help lead a offense that will look to exploit the Duquesne and St. Bonaventure defenses.
Redshirt sophomore
Mikki Raymond has stepped into a larger role lately. The midfielder has at least two goals in four of her last five games. In that span, she's scored 11 goals and also had six assists. She now leads the team in helpers with eight. Freshman
Emily Johnston has also started to heat up. As consistent as you can get, she has two goals in each of her last five games.
