Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The La Salle women's lacrosse team was defeated on the road by George Washington on Friday afternoon, 16-13.
The Explorers scored the first three goals of the game in what was a very offensive first half. The teams combined for 17 total goals in the first 30 minutes of play. La Salle carried the lead until the 11 minute mark when the Colonials tied the score at five.
After a couple of
Bridget Ruskey scores, La Salle took the lead once more before George Washington rattled off four of the last five goals in the half.
The Explorers continued to keep the score tight through the second half, but were unable to climb over the hump.
La Salle finished the game with a season-high 34 shots. In net,
Lynne Frankel made 10 saves. Ruskey and
Brittany Edwards led with four goals each.
Mikki Raymond and
Emily Johnston both scored twice. Aninna Iacobucci had one goal.
The Explorers will face UMass on the road Sunday at noon.
