LITTLESTON, Pa. - Redshirt freshman
Marybelle Daclan shot an opening-round 78 and is tied for third place after the first day of the Vanessa Picciotto Memorial Invitational, hosted by Wagner.
Daclan tied for the tournament high with a pair of birdies on her round, and finished the 18 holes with a 4.75 stroke average on the par-5 holes, tops among all players. The Galloway, N.J. product is four shots off the lead, currently held by LIU Brooklyn's Carolina Ronchel.
La Salle stands in fourth place as a team at 332, while LIU is five strokes in front of Columbia at 315.
Other Explorers in action were freshman
Franca Hurtado, who is tied for 10th place at 81. Senior
Mariam Colon shot 85, sophomore
Rebecca Smith enters the second day in 21st place at 88, while freshman
Gina Lizzo rounded out the group at 97.
The second and final day of the Vanessa Picciotto Memorial Invite will take place on Monday, April 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
