Women's Basketball | May 11, 2018

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle University head women's basketball coach Mountain MacGillivray has retained Dalila Eshe as an assistant coach on his staff, he announced on Friday. Eshe will enter her third season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Explorers in 2018-19.

"We are very excited to have Dalila remain a part of the Explorer women's basketball program," said MacGillivray. "Dalila has a love for La Salle University and a commitment to mentoring student-athletes that will help us build something special."

Eshe was an integral part of one of the biggest turnarounds in college basketball in her first season at 20th and Olney, helping La Salle win 17 games in 2016-17 after just five wins in 2015-16. Her work with La Salle's post players was indispensable in head coach Jeff Williams earning Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year that season.

In 2017-18, Eshe engineered one of the best recruiting classes in program history, including the first-ever espnW Top 100 recruit in McDonald's All-America nominee Makayla Pippin.

"I'm very excited and grateful to have the opportunity to work with Coach MacGillivray," said Eshe. "His energy and passion are infectious and I'm looking forward to helping him build the La Salle women's basketball program."

Eshe joined the Explorers in 2016 after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at East Carolina and a season as the Director of Operations at Loyola.

While at ECU, Eshe developed I'Tiana Taylor into the 2014-2015 American Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year and a two-time AAC All-Conference selection. Eshe was also responsible for organizing all recruiting efforts as the Pirates brought in their first Top 50 recruiting class in 2016.

Eshe was a second round pick by the Seattle Storm in the 2006 WNBA draft out of the University of Florida. She later spent time in camp with the Washington Mystics in 2007 and the Atlanta Dream in 2008.

The Tallahassee, Fla., native continued her professional career overseas as a top-10 rebounder and scorer in Turkey's top international league from 2006-09. She also competed in the Euro Cup for the No. 1 team in Romania in 2008. In 2009-10, Eshe played in Russia before continuing on to leagues in the Czech Republic (2011), Portugal (2012), Germany (2012) and Ecuador (2013).

Eshe earned All-Southeastern Conference First Team honors as a senior at Florida, leading the Gators to 21 wins and an NCAA Tournament appearance. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology.
