PHILADELPHIA - A pair of La Salle University field hockey sophomores were selected to take part in regional camps at United States Field Hockey High Performance training facilities, it was announced recently. Midfielder/defender Amanda Chapin was selected to train at the Mid-Atlantic region sites while goalkeeper Emma Provost earned a spot in the South Region.
 
"We are very excited for Amanda and Emma to represent our program this summer at their regional high performance training sessions," head coach Kelly Broadway said. "This is a great opportunity for both of them to continue to train at an elite level alongside some of the best collegiate athletes in the country."
 
Chapin has played in 30 contests over her two seasons with the Explorers, including 12 starts in 2017. A native of Gambrills, Md., she registered the first assist of her career in a 3-2 win over Rider and had four multi-shot games. The Mid-Atlantic region will hold training sessions at both the University of Delaware and the University of Maryland through June 20.
  
Provost was a mainstay in goal in her second season with the Explorers, starting all 17 contests. The Middletown, Md. product registered five shutouts, tied for the third-highest total in La Salle single-season history. She recorded 11 saves in a 1-0 victory over Lehigh and had 10 stops in a shutout win over Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis. Hosted by Duke University, the South region's training sessions will run through June 14.  
 
Following the training periods, the top athletes will be selected to represent their region at the Young Women's National Championship in Lancaster, Pa. on June 25-29. These selections are performance based and also serve as a selection opportunity for the 2018-19 United States U-21 Women's National Team, the U.S. Women's National Development Squad and the U.S. Women's National Team.
