WHAT TO WATCH FOR
La Salle will look to do some damage in the relays after showing success in recent weeks. Last weekend, the Explorers set three school records at the Penn Relays.
Ariel Mitchell,
Amber Jenkins,
Desirae Osley and
Chidinma Matthew set a new mark in the 4x100-meter relay and then broke that mark the very next day in the Eastern Finals.
La Salle also set a new program record in the distance medley relay at the Penn Relays, as
Ifetayo Tyler, Jenkins,
Makayla Eberly and
Grace Mancini shattered a mark that was previously set back in 2013.
Tyler will run in the 800 meters after finishing fifth in the event at the 2017 A-10 Outdoor Championships, while she was second in the 1,000 meters at this year's indoor championships. Mitchell and Matthew, who are both coming off victories at the Lehigh Games last weekend, will compete in the 100 and 200-meter dash.
Mancini, who capped off the indoor season with an eighth place showing in the 3,000 meters at the IC4A Championships, will take part in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday.
Kaleah Miller and
Jessica Bryant were fourth and fifth in the long jump at last year's championships, respectively, and the two will compete in both the long jump and triple jump this weekend.
La Salle will begin competition early Saturday afternoon from George Mason Stadium.
