NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The La Salle University women's cross country team was chosen eighth in the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason poll on Wednesday. The poll is voted upon by the league's 14 head coaches.
La Salle earned 105 points in the poll. The Explorers are projected exactly where they finished last season, coming in eighth at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Junior
Grace Mancini will look to build upon her all-conference performance from a season ago, when she finished 11th at the league championship. Sophomore
Allana Powlette is also back for the Explorers after claiming A-10 All-Rookie honors last year.
Redshirt senior
Megan Connell returns for La Salle after competing at the conference championship in each of her three seasons of action. Additionally, head coach
Tom Peterson adds nine newcomers for the upcoming season.
Reigning A-10 Champion Dayton was projected to win the league title. Richmond, Davidson, Duquesne and George Washington completed the top five in the poll.
The Explorers will open the 2018 season on Friday at the Temple Invitational. The Atlantic 10 Championship will take place on Oct. 27 in Richmond, Va.
