BRONX, N.Y. – Freshman
Ibrahim Kedir finished in 11th place and was one of three Explorers in the top 45, as the La Salle University men's cross country team raced in the Iona Meet of Champions Friday morning. As a team, La Salle finished seventh out of 11 Division I teams on the 8k course.
"I am satisfied with how the men competed today," said head coach
Tom Peterson. "It was very nice to see Ibrahim stick his nose into the front of the race and back it up. Most freshmen cannot back that up, but he did today. Our 2 through 5 runners did their job, however I am eager to see them progress through the season. When we plug our top two returners from last year, Ryan and Anthony, back into the lineup for Paul Short, we will have a clearer picture of where we stand."
WHERE THEY FINISHED
- In just his second collegiate meet, Kedir nearly cracked the top 10, placing 11th out of 137 runners with a time of 25:41.7.
- Junior Nathan Gillis was the next Explorer to cross the finish line, placing 35th overall with a mark of 26:29.9.
- Sophomore Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky came in 44th, crossing in 26:44.6.
- Senior Nick Smart finished in 26:55.8 for 52nd, while sophomore Joe Boyle wasn't far behind in 55th with a mark of 27:05.8.
UP NEXT
- La Salle will have two weeks to prepare for its next race, Lehigh's Paul Short Run, in Bethlehem, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 29.
