Women’s Soccer Continues A-10 Play with VCU and Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team (6-4-1, 2-1-0 A-10) is scheduled to host VCU (7-3-1, 1-2-0 A-10) on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match at McCarthy Stadium and head to Saint Joseph's (4-6-1, 1-2-0 A-10) on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff to continue league play.
 
Thursday's home game is part of the Fall Tailgate Series with food being provided to La Salle students by J.D. McGillicuddy's.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle is fresh off a 2-0 week as it defeated Richmond in overtime and Duquesne in double overtime. The Explorers are 6-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Atlantic 10.
  • Redshirt-senior Maci Bower and junior Amirah Louketis both lead the team with 11 points and five goals apiece. Both are tied for eighth in the league in points and sixth in goals.
  • Freshman Leah Giles, who was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, is pacing the Explorers in assists with four. She's tied for fifth in the conference in that category.
  • Junior keeper Claudia Jenkins has played every minute of competition this season. She has a 1.40 goals against average and 54 saves on the season with a .771 save percentage. Jenkins is third in the A-10 and 30th in the nation in total saves.
SCOUTING THE RAMS:
  • VCU had a convincing win in its most recent game, downing George Mason, 5-1. Prior to that, the Rams dropped its first two Atlantic 10 matches to Duqesne, 2-1, and Saint Louis, 4-0.
  • The Rams have a pair of double-digit point scorers in Emma Kershner amd Samantha Jerabek. Kershner leads the team with 12 points on four goals and four assists. Jerabek has 11 points on four goals and three assists.
  • Grace Young has played in all 11 games in net. The keeper has a 1.35 goals against average and has made 19 saves with a .594 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:
  • Saint Joseph's has dropped five of its last six games, with the lone win coming over conference foe, St. Bonaventure, 1-0.
  • Kylie D'Ambra leads the Hawks with five points and is tied as the top goal scorer and assister.
  • Dakota Mills and Gabrielle Vagnozzi join D'Ambra with two goals apiece.
  • Three others have registered an assist like D'Ambra.
  • Two keepers have split time in net this season. Cameron Perrott started five games thus far and holds a 1.20 goals against average with 22 saves and a .786 save percentage.
  • Emily Cuccio has made six starts in goal and posts a 1.29 goals against average with 29 saves and a .784 save percentage.
