AMHERST, Mass. – The La Salle women's soccer team (9-7-1, 5-4 A-10) dropped a back-and-fourth game on Thursday afternoon to UMass (9-4-3, 6-2-1 A-10), 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With the first half winding down during the 42nd minute, rookie Leah Giles fielded passes from classmate Emily Banashefski and sophomore Bella Gonsiewski that Giles was able to drive over the outstretched arm of the UMass keeper.
- During the 56th minute, UMass knotted things up at one apiece as Lauren Bonavita sent a curving shot just inside the left post.
- About five minutes later, redshirt-senior Maci Bower took a pass from junior Amirah Louketis, which Bower sent to the back of the net to regain the lead for the Explorers, 2-1.
- Three and a half minutes later during the 64th minute, Serena Ahmed drilled a curving shot just past the outstretched hands of Jenkins, tying the game at 2-2.
- The Minutewomen took their first lead of the game during the 86th minute of play with a goal from Nissa Pereira.
- UMass sealed the game with a fourth goal from Ansley Frazier at 88:49.

- Giles' goal and Gonsiewski's assist were the first of their careers.
- Bower is now tied with Krista Lee '04 for 7th place all-time with 25 goals.
