PHILADELPHIA – For just the second time ever, the #4 La Salle women's soccer team (10-7-1, 6-6 A-10) will host an Atlantic 10 Quarterfinal match at McCarthy Stadium when the Explorers welcome #5 Dayton (7-8-3, 5-3-2 A-10) on Saturday at 1 p.m. La Salle is looking to #PACKtheMAC for the playoff bout, encouraging fans to wear gold for a 'Gold Out.'
An Alumni/Parents Tailgate will take place between DeVincent Field and McCarthy Stadium with light refreshments. The first 70 students will also eat for FREE with a valid La Salle ID, courtesy of City View. All fans are encouraged to sit behind the La Salle bench following the tailgate festivities.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- The Explorers hosted the Flyers in the regular season finale this past Sunday, defeating Dayton, 3-2.
- Laney Huber and Alexis Goins started out the scoring efforts for Dayton as each tallied a goal to put the Flyers on top, 2-0, through the first 5:20.
- La Salle responded with three second half goals to claim the win and secure the fourth seed.
- Freshman Danielle Rooney scored the Explorer's first goal, followed by a pair of goals by redshirt-senior Maci Bower.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- Bower and Rooney both earned Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards for last week's efforts. Bower was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, while Rooney claimed Rookie of the Week for the first time.
- As a team, La Salle is second in the Altantic 10 and 54th nationally with 28 total assists.
- A total of 16 different Explorers have registered a point this season.
- Bower is leading the Explorers with 21 points this season on 10 goals and an assist.
- Junior Amirah Louketis is the team's next top scorer with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
- Rookie Leah Giles leads the team with four assists.
- Junior Claudia Jenkins has been a staple in net this season. The keeper has started all 18 games and posts a 1.47 goals against average on 93 saves and a .775 save percentage. She leads the Atlantic 10 in saves and saves per game.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS:
- Dayton has a trio of double-digit point scorers, led by Goins with 17 on a team-high seven goals, adding three assists.
- Huber adds 12 points on four goals and a team-leading four assists.
- Jordan Pauley rounds out the trio with 11 points on five goals and one assist.
- Emily Jones has gotten the nod in goal as of late, including Sunday's regular season finale. Jones has a 0.92 goals against average with 24 saves and a .800 save percentage.
