Chapin

Field Hockey | November 7, 2019

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University senior Amanda Chapin was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Second Team and also earned All-Academic Team honors, as the league announced its postseason awards on Thursday.

One of the top midfielders in the region, Chapin set new career highs in assists (11) and points (19) and moved up the ranks on La Salle's career assists list. Over four seasons, the Gambrills, Md. product compiled 20 assists to rank fifth on La Salle's all-time list. Her single-season mark of 11 places her in a tie for third with Beth Carey, who had 11 during the 2009 season.

An Atlantic 10 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honoree as a senior, Chapin had six multi-point games throughout the year including a one-goal, two-assist performance in a 5-2 win over Saint Louis. Against city rival Villanova, Chapin registered a career-best three assists against the Wildcats.

The senior finished her career with a flourish, tallying a goal in a narrow 2-1, overtime loss against UMass and tallying an assist in each of her final two appearances. Defensively, Chapin also had four defensive saves which ranked among the conference leaders.

In addition to her on-the-field prowess, Chapin is also one of the top students at La Salle University. A psychology major, she currently maintains an impressive 3.97 GPA and was named to the A-10's All-Academic Team for a second straight season.
