La Salle University was deeply saddened to learn Monday of the death of women's lacrosse junior student-athlete Brittany Stevens.

Director Athletics & Recreation Brian Baptiste:
"We are absolutely heartbroken and devastated by the sudden passing of La Salle family member and women's lacrosse student-athlete Brittany Stevens. Our love and thoughts are with her family, teammates and friends. Brittany made such a meaningful impact on our community. Our department and University is focused on supporting those on our campus who have been affected by this tragedy."

Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Katie Rhodes Abbott:
"Brittany was a dedicated young woman who was committed to serving the University and those around her. This is a devastating loss for our lacrosse family. We will miss her enormously."

Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade:
"The entire Atlantic 10 family is saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of La Salle student-athlete Brittany Stevens. Hers was a beautiful life with a bright future that came to a heartbreaking close much too early. We share our prayers and support with Brittany's family, the La Salle lacrosse team and university community today."

The La Salle Student Counseling Center and its trained staff are available to help students that need support. If you're struggling, or if someone close to you is experiencing difficulty, please call 215-951-1355. The De La Salle Chapel and the Interfaith Prayer Room, both located in the lower level of College Hall, are available resources for those who seek a space of solace, comfort, and community. The Student Counseling Center (215-951-1355) is also open, with walk in hours available from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day. Ministry, Service, and Support (215-951-1048) offices are generally open between 8:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

Those that would like to talk to someone outside of the regular workday, or on weekends, call 215-951-1355 and one of the 24-hour counselors will be available. Residence Life staff is available at any time to assist students, as well as La Salle Public Safety. Both can be reached by calling 215-951-1300.
