PHILADELPHIA – Women's lacrosse begins A-10 play this weekend with games against George Washington and George Mason. The Explorers first host the Colonials on Friday at 3 p.m. and then travel to Virginia for a noon showdown against the Patriots on Sunday. Both games can be streamed on ESPN+.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle is coming off a 17-15 victory over Radford on March 12th. The result tied their highest scoring game of the season and moved them to 6-2 since 2012 in their final game before conference play.
- The Explorers were led by sophomores Annina Iacobucci with seven points (five goals, two assists) and Maddie Dachowski on six points (five goals, one assist).
- Dachowski paces the team in goals (19) and points (23) this season. Sophomore Bridget Ruskey follows her with 16 goals and three assists. Sophomore Brittany Stevens is the top provider with seven assists.
- Ruskey and fellow sophomore Emily Johnston are 1-2 in draw controls this campaign with 23 and 19 respectively. Johnston leads all Explorers in caused turnovers with nine.
- Sophomore Molly Loughlin has a 48.2% save percentage in 2019. She has recorded 73 saves in net over seven games.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
- The Colonials are 2-6 this season and have most recently dropped their last two contests vs. Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth. They're 0-3 in away games.
- The last time La Salle hosted George Washington in 2017, the Explorers emerged with a 13-11 victory.
- The Colonials are led by freshman Kendall Hampton (17 points) and junior Katie Quinn (16 points). Fellow junior Morgan McDonnell leads the team in assists with eight.
- Junior Caroline Kiernan paces the team in both draw controls (25) and caused turnovers (16).
- In net, the Colonials have only turned to one goalkeeper—sophomore Jenna Oler. She has recorded 80 saves and an 11.88 goals against average.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
- The Patriots are 4-4 this season, including two away losses to top-ten teams Maryland and Virginia. They've only played one game at home so far, a 17-10 win over Canisius College. Before they host La Salle, they'll welcome Richmond on the 22nd.
- The Explorers last win against the Patriots came in the final regular season game of 2014, a 13-4 triumph in Fairfax.
- George Mason is led by senior Chachi Kelehan and Deanna Balsama, both of whom are close to the 30-point mark this season. Kelehan has 21 goals and eight assists while Balsama has 19 goals and nine assists.
- Pay attention to sophomore Erin Donoghue off the draw—she has 48 draw controls this season, almost double sophomore Abby Folker in second with 25.
