PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore right-handed pitcher
Mike Jenkins was named Philadelphia Big 5 Pitcher of the Week on Monday following his performance in Tuesday's victory over Delaware.
He becomes the fourth Explorer to collect the honor this season already, with
Matt Holt,
Jackson Ray and
Aidan Frye doing so previously.
Jenkins allowed only four hits - all singles - over 5.2 scoreless innings in Tuesday's road victory at Delaware. He struck out six and didn't allow any walks en route to his second consecutive win.
The Allentown, Pa., native has won both of his starts this season and owns a 3.37 ERA. He has 10 strikeouts through 10.2 innings of work and owns a 1.08 WHIP in his two appearances.
Jenkins and the Explorers are back at home against Rider on Tuesday.
