LANCASTER, Pa. -- La Salle University rising senior Emma Provost was one of 144 elite female field hockey athletes that were selected to compete in the 2019 Young Women's National Championship. The event, which will be held at Spooky Nook Sports, the Home of Hockey, in Lancaster, Pa., from June 14-18.

"We are excited for Emma to be selected and represent La Salle at the Young Women's National Championship," head coach Kelly Broadway said. "It is a great environment to be in and such a great experience!"

Provost started 12 contests in goal for the Explorers during the 2018 campaign, registering a career-best 15 saves in a season-opening triumph over Ohio. She was named Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts against the Bobcats, and collected her second shutout of the season just over a week later against Central Michigan.

Over the spring, select athletes tried out and trained at USA Field Hockey High-Performance Centers throughout the country for an opportunity to earn a spot in the tournament that is the next step on the Olympic Development Pathway. These teams will face off for the prestigious title of national champions and for an opportunity to be selected to the 2020 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team and U.S. Women's National Development Team, or a trial for the U.S. Women's National Team.

For the first time this year, the 2019 U.S. U-19 Women's National Team will take part in the Young Women's National Championship, along with top collegiate and post-collegiate players.
