PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team (0-1-1) is set to kick off its home slate as it hosts NJIT (0-1-1) Thursday at 7 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+ from McCarthy Stadium. After Thursday's contest, the Explorers will head down the road to take on city foe Drexel on Sunday. Kickoff for the matinee is set for 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • After taking on #8 Duke and North Florida in the 2019 Carolina Nike Classic in the opening weekend, the Explorers enter play at 0-1-1.
  • La Salle held #8 Duke scoreless through the first 67 minutes of the game this past Thursday. In Sunday's game against the Osprey, the Blue & Gold struck first during the 58th minute. UNF responded in the 87th minute to send the game to overtime, ultimately ending in a tie.
  • Redshirt-senior Maci Bower made her return after missing last season and scored the Explorers' lone goal thus far. Assists on the score came from rookie Emily Banashefski and senior Sarah DeBerardinis.
  • Junior keeper Claudia Jenkins made both starts in net, earning both decisions. The Kersbrook, Australia native holds a 1.35 goals against average and a .786 save percentage with 11 saves.
SCOUTING NJIT:
  • The Highlanders are led by La Salle alum and former assistant coach Ally Nick '10. The team has a 0-1-1 record after drawing with UMBC and falling to Maryland in overtime.
  • Offensively, the Highlanders are yet to find the back of the net this season.
  • Keeper Molly Saylor started both games and has a 0.43 goals against average after allowing just one goal in 207 minutes of play. She's also made 10 saves for a .909 save percentage.
SCOUTING DREXEL:
  • The Dragons enter the weekend at 0-1-0 after falling to Saint Joseph's to kickoff the 2019 campaign. SJU downed Drexel, 1-0.
  • Drexel is scheduled to host Marist on Friday night.
