Bower’s Overtime Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – With 1:41 left in the first overtime period, redshirt-senior Maci Bower beat a defender one-on-one in the box and sent the game-winner past the hands of the diving keeper to lift La Salle women's soccer (5-4-1, 1-1-0 A-10) by Richmond (4-4-2, 1-1-0 A-10), 2-1, on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Richmond struck first during the 6th minute of play as Brooke Beam found Alyssa Walker for the opening score.
  • Nearing the end of the first half, Bower was fouled in the box, calling for a penalty kick. Junior Jenna Soriano took the kick and sent it past the keeper to knot things at one apiece.
  • After 90 minutes of play, neither team broke a way, forcing overtime.
  • Bower won the game during the 99th minute with her stellar play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Soriano's goal marks her first on the season.
  • Junior keeper Claudia Jenkins (5-4-1) recorded six saves in the win.
  • The Explorers had eight corner kicks, topping Richmond's two.
GAME NOTES:
