PHILADELPHIA – During the 102
nd minute in the second overtime period, junior
Amirah Louketis scored the game-winning goal as the La Salle women's soccer team (6-4-1, 2-1-0 A-10) defeated Duquesne (3-4-2, 1-2-0 A-10), 3-2, at McCarthy Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Duquesne jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the 30th minute of the game. Deena DeBaldo scored the first Dukes' goal during the 11th minute on an assist from Jaimi Araujo. The second goal came after a shot bounced of the crossbar, hit junior keeper Claudia Jenkins and rolled over the goal line.
- La Salle bounced back quickly by scoring two goals in a 2:18 span. The first score came from senior Jess Shanahan off an assist from Louketis.
- Junior Jenna Soriano took a free kick from about 20 yards out and sent the ball into the upper left corner to knot the game at two apiece.
- The next 69 minutes of the game were scoreless until freshman Leah Giles found Louketis on the game-winner.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Louketis ended the day with three points after the goal and assist.
- Soriano and Shanahan picked up their second goals of the season.
- Jenkins (6-4-1) made four saves on the day.
GAME NOTES:
- Louketis is now tied with redshirt-senior Maci Bower for a team leading 11 points. Each have five goals and an assist.
- Giles extends her lead in the assist column and now has double the next Explorer with four.

La Salle is back in action on Thursday when VCU comes to McCarthy Stadium for a game under the lights. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the game streaming on ESPN+.
