ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association have signed former La Salle men's basketball standout
B.J. Johnson, the organization announced on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Johnson, a two-time All-Philadelphia Big 5 First Team selection during his time at La Salle, played in seven games during his rookie campaign, splitting time with Atlanta and Sacramento. The 6-7 forward 3.3 points and 1.1 rebounds, including a 11-point outing in his NBA debut on March 3. He also appeared in 39 games for the NBA G-League's Lakeland Magic, averaging 15.4 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 44.4 percent from three-point range.
The Lower Merion product appeared in 56 games for the Explorers from 2016-18, averaging 19.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. As a senior, he was named a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honoree as he averaged a team-high 20.8 points per game.
Orlando begins its training camp on Oct. 1.
