Career Day From Jenkins Leads Women’s Soccer to Victory Over FGCU, 2-1

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Junior keeper Claudia Jenkins had a career performance Thursday evening as the La Salle women's soccer team (2-2-1) defeated Florida Gulf Coast (1-2-0), 2-1. Explorer goals came off the foot of redshirt-senior Maci Bower and junior Amirah Louketis.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Eagles found the back of the net early on a rebound opportunity during the 12th minute. Jenkins made the initial save; however, FGCU's Louise Lillback sent the rebound shot in for a score.
  • Just 10 minutes into the second half, Bower nearly knotted things at one apiece, however FGCU keeper Melissa Weck made a diving save.
  • Bower scored the equalizer during the 62nd minute with a shot that was just inside the left post and out of reach from a diving Weck.
  • Six minutes later, Louketis drilled a shot from about 16 yards out to the right of the net to give the Explorers their first lead of the game. Freshman Kayla Miller-People recorded the assist on the score.
