Bower’s Strike Leads Women’s Soccer to 1-0 Win Over St. John’s

QUEENS, N.Y. – Redshirt-senior Maci Bower scored the lone goal Sunday afternoon to propel to La Salle women's soccer team (3-2-1) to a 1-0 victory over St. John's (1-5-0). The win is the first over St. John's in program history.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Late in the first half, Bower scored off an assist from freshman Kayla Miller-People to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead at the break.
  • During the 58th minute, Bower had another opportunity to score, but the shot was wide right.
  • St. John's threatened a few times in the second half, however a few missed shots and a spectacular save by junior Claudia Jenkins squashed any opportunities.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Bower's goal was her team-leading third of the season.
  • Miller-People recorded back-to-back games with an assist. She now leads the team in that category with two.
  • Jenkins (3-2-1) recorded her second shutout of the season, while making three saves.
UP NEXT:
La Salle returns to the confines of McCarthy Stadium on Thursday when it hosts Delaware for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
