PHILADELPHIA - After back-to-back impressive games, sophomore
Kayla Spruill has been named Co-Big 5 Player of the Week with Temple's Mia Davis, the organization announced Monday.
In a 1-1 week, Spruill had a dominant week for the Explorers. The sophomore averaged 21.0 ppg and 10.5 rpg, while shooting 64.7% from the floor, 66.7% from long range, and a perfect 14-of-14 from the line in 34 min/game.
Spruill started the week with 18 points and nine rebounds in a narrow loss at Richmond. In Sunday's Big 5 finale against the Hawks, Spruill scored a career best 24 points and corralled 12 boards. The two games extended her double-digit point streak to eight straight and 12 of the 20 games this year.
La Salle's win over SJU was the first under head coach
Mountain MacGillivray and snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Hawks. It was also the largest victory over Saint Joseph's since 2006.
The Explorers return to action on Wednesday when they host George Mason at 5 p.m. inside Tom Gola Arena.
