FAIRFAX, Va. – Three Explorers recorded double figure scoring totals, led by sophomore Kayla Spruill with her second straight double-double on Saturday as the La Salle women's basketball team (13-16, 7-9 A-10) trumped George Mason (9-20, 3-13 A-10), 64-59.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • La Salle connected on a pair of three pointers out of the gate which forced Mason to take a timeout after just 42 seconds of play. The Patriots regrouped with the next five points and a 15-8 advantage through the remainder of the frame for a 15-14 lead after one.
  • La Salle dominated the second period to jump out in front at the half. The Explorers utilized a 19-11 scoring differential with a 9-0 run packed in the middle. La Salle's defense held Mason to 15.4% (2-of-13) from the floor in the period.
  • George Mason cut into the Explorers' lead through the first 5:08 of the third stanza as it outscored the Blue & Gold, 8-7. The quarter ended the same way it started with the home team holding an 8-7 advantage.
  • The fourth quarter was evenly matched after 5:44 of play with the team's splitting the 18 points scored in the period. Mason pulled within a one possession game on three different occasions, but La Salle remained stout and took the victory.
