Men's Track and Field | February 4, 2020
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second time in three weeks, redshirt senior
Nathan Gillis of the La Salle University men's track and field team has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Track Performer of the Week.
Gillis won his second race of the season on Saturday at the Penn State National Open. He edged out teammate
Anthony Hawthorne for first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:49.97.
His time is the fastest 800 mark in the Atlantic 10 this season. After redshirting the 2019 outdoor season, Gillis has returned to the track in a big way, winning both of the events he has competed in so far in 2020.
Gillis, who broke the school record in the 800 last year, has now taken weekly honors for the third time in his career. It's also the third weekly honor of the season for the La Salle men, as
Ibrahim Kedir also received the accolade in December.
The Explorers will compete at the Albany Winter Classic on Friday.
