BETHLEHEM – The La Salle women's golf team is competing in its final tournament of the fall season, finishing day one of the Lehigh University Invitational on Monday afternoon with a first round score of 349 (+61).
ABOUT THE COURSE
- The Explorers are competing at the Saucon Valley Country Club, the par 72 coures playing at 6,012 yards.
- With 36 holes over the two days, La Salle concludes action with its final round tomorrow morning.
- 11 teams are competing in the event, 68 golfers including 13 individuals taking part on the course.
LA SALLE SCORECARD
- Pacing the Explorers was Kayleigh Zeman, who sits in a tie for 9th after the first round with a score of 78 (+6). Zeman's two birdies were the only two of the day for La Salle.
- Grace Hickey followed up with an 87 (+15) on the round, sitting in 46th after 18 holes.
- Hannah Basler carded a 90 (+18) on Monday afternoon.
- Grace Weiss and Megan Ruffing finished a stroke off each other, Weiss hitting a 94 (+22) on the afternoon while Megan Ruffing shot a 95 (+23).
- Competing as an individual, Libby Gilliland took part in her first tournament of the season with a first round score of 92 (+20).
THE FIELD
- Only one golfer sits under par after one round, Nicola Smith of Fairleigh Dickinson shooting a 71 (-1) on her opening 18. Her teammate Caterina Tatti is the only one within five shots of her, registering a 73 (+1).
- The two have helped lead Fairleigh Dickinson to a seven-stroke advantage in team scoring, recording a 305 (+17).
- La Salle sits in 8th of 11 teams, recording a 349 (+61) in the first round, a ten-stroke advantage over Niagara University in ninth.
