PHILADELPHIA – Lacrosse hits the road for a City 6 rivalry, facing Drexel on Saturday. The Explorers (2-2) are coming off a 10-9 comeback win over Boston University, while the Dragons dropped their most recent contest to Lehigh and sit at 5-1 overall.
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle has an anchor in net in Molly Loughlin. The senior is sixth in the nation in save percentage (.588), seventh in saves per game (11.75) and tenth in goal against average (8.25) – all of which lead the conference.
- Senior Priya Kavuru is third in the Atlantic 10 in caused turnovers per game (2.0), good for 27th in the NCAA.
- The Blue & Gold is led on offense by senior Bridget Ruskey, who has 11 goals and two assists so far. She is followed by senior Annina Iacobucci with eight goals and an assist.
- The team's top provider has been senior Allison Hunter with three assists. La Salle's number 21 has also scored twice this season.
- As a team, the Explorers pace the A-10 in save percentage and are second in free position percentage (.583).
SCOUTING THE DRAGONS
- Drexel has found success over City 6 teams this season with wins over Saint Joseph's, Temple and Villanova.
- Drexel has had the Blue & Gold's number in recent history. La Salle's last win over the Dragons came on April 23rd, 2002.
- Fire-breathing offense: Drexel boasts three players over the 20-goal mark this campaign. Senior Karson Harris leads the team with 25 goals, followed by classmates Lucy Schneidereith with 24 and Colleen Grady with 23. Those players are 1-2-3 in the conference and all in the top ten nationally.
- Grady also has dished out 17 assists in 2021, good for fifth in the nation. Her 40 points are second in the country behind Jamie Ortega of North Carolina.
- Drexel paces the conference in scoring offense, averaging 16.83 goals per game. They have recorded the most shots on goal per game (25.17) and total shots per game (32.17).
- The Dragons also lead their conference in ground balls per game with 19.33.
