Baseball Sweeps Saturday Doubleheader at St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – The La Salle University baseball team got quality starts from pitchers Colin Scanlon and Frank Elissalt, leading to a doubleheader sweep at St. Bonaventure on Saturday. Scanlon led the Explorers to a 6-3 win in game one before Elissalt shut down the Bonnies in a 4-1 victory in game two.

Game 1 – La Salle 6, St. Bonaventure 3 (F/7)
  • The Explorers got off to a quick start in the first game with three runs in the first inning as sophomore Elijah Dickerson hit an RBI double to score sophomore Connor Coolahan, followed by a sacrifice fly by senior Jack Cucinotta to score junior Tatem Levins. Dickerson then scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0.
  • La Salle added to its lead in the third inning with two more runs. Graduate student Ryan Guckin scored on an error and then senior Alfonse Sadallah came in on an RBI single by redshirt sophomore Nick Di Vietro.
  • Cucinotta extended the lead even more in the fourth inning when he scored on an error to make it a 6-0 ball game.
  • The Bonnies got a run on a solo home run in the fourth and plated two more in the seven, but Scanlon held St. Bonaventure in check for most of the day and sophomore Jordan Morales finished off the win by striking out the final batter looking for the seven-inning win.

  • Freshman Will Binder started it with an RBI single to score junior Nick O'Day. Levins later delivered a two-run single to plate Binder and sophomore John DeMucci and Dickerson capped it off with a fielder's choice that brough home Coolahan.
  • The Bonnies got one run on two hits in the sixth inning, and redshirt freshman Colin Yablonski entered out of the bullpen in the seventh to record his first career save.
