NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The La Salle University men's soccer team collected three year-end awards from the Atlantic 10 Conference on Wednesday. Junior
Omari Cotterell landed on the All-Conference Second Team, while freshmen
Junior Nare and
Scott Beeks got All-Rookie honors.
Cotterell tied for the team lead with three goals this season while adding one assist for seven points. He started in all 11 games and took a team-high 26 shots, with nine on goal. Cotterell netted the game-winning goal in the season-opening win over Villanova and earned Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week as a result.
Nare led the team with eight points on the year with three goals and two assists in his first season. The South Africa native was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks (3/1, 3/8) after registering a goal and an assist in a win at Mount St. Mary's and then scoring two goals in a home win over Drexel. He fired 23 shots in total and started in all 11 games.
Beeks came on strong as the season progressed and tied for the team lead with three goals in his inaugural season. The Finland native saw action in 10 games and started four times while putting eight of his 12 shots on goal. His first career goal was the game-winning tally in a road win at Mount St. Mary's.
The Explorers finished the spring season with a 5-5-1 overall record and a 2-3-1 mark in conference play.
