Lacrosse Hosts #14 UMass, Travels to St. Bonaventure This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – Lacrosse hosts #14 UMass on Friday in its penultimate home game of the regular season before traveling to St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Both games are at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle is 3-7 this season with a 1-4 mark in conference play. 
  • The Blue & Gold has a few players towards the top of the conference stats. Senior Molly Loughlin is third in the A-10 in saves per game with 8.90 and fifth in goals against average with 12.60.
  • Fellow senior Emily Johnston and Annina Iacobucci also rank highly. For Johnston, she is fourth in caused turnovers per game (1.20) and fifth in ground balls per game (2.30), while Iacobucci is second in shot percentage (.629).
  • Iacobucci is the leading goal threat with 22 on the season, followed by Johnston with 18. 
  • Senior Sarah Elias is the team's top provider with 11 assists.
SCOUTING THE MINUTEWOMEN
  • #14 UMass in 9-2 this campaign and a perfect 4-0 in A-10 action. Its losses came to Boston College and UConn. The Explorers last win against UMass came in 2010.
  • As a team, they top the conference in a number of categories: assists per game (8.64), draw controls per game (17.64), draw control percentage (.602), points per game (26), scoring margin (6.91), scoring offense (17.36), shots per game (36.91) and shots on goal per game (29).
  • Its offense is driven by senior Haley Connaughton, who paces the conference in assists per game (2.36).
  • On the draw, no one is better in the nation than redshirt senior Caitlyn Petro, leading the NCAA in draw controls per game with 12.20.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES
  • St. Bonaventure is 2-7 this season and 0-5 in conference play. La Salle holds a three-game winning streak over the Bonnies and has taken eight of the last nine contests.
  • The Bonnies do lead the conference in one statistic: fouls per game. They only concede 10.33 each contest.
  • Redshirt senior Destinee Johnson is the main threat on offense, leading the team in goals (11), assists (nine) and shots per game (5.78).
  • Sophomore Emily Mahon has scooped up 2.22 ground balls per game, which is sixth in the conference.
