PHILADELPHIA – After a thrilling win in their season opener against Iona, La Salle women's lacrosse will stay at home on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. when they host Mount St. Mary's at McCarthy Stadium.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- Trailing by two goals with 8:48 to play, La Salle (1-0) rallied to score the final three goals of the game in a 14-13 win over Iona in their home and season opener last Saturday.
- Tori Rolon's five goal performance led the Explorer offense while earning her Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors.
- Rolon needed just six shots to score her five goals, converting on all three free-position shot attempts.
- Iona held the edge in shots (37-27) and in draw controls (17-14), but the Explorer defense held the Gaels scoreless the final 12:55 to secure the win.
- Making her first career start, goalkeeper Julia Dellaratta made 11 saves to pick up the first victory of her career.
- Defender Liza Dellaratta led the team with six ground balls, while her and Maddie Henderson each contributed two caused turnovers.
- Eight different Explorers found the net for the balanced La Salle offense in Rolon, Kiki Venza, Claudia Steinmetz, Emily Johnston, Maddie Henderson, Maddie Dachowski, Mackenzie Click, and Kira Sides.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTANIEERS:
- Mount St. Mary's is off to a 2-0 start in 2022 with wins over UMBC and Towson to start their campaign.
- The Mountaineers logged a 10-9 win over the Retrievers on a late goal by Zoe Hulbert.
- In their season opener, the Mount picked up the program's first-ever win over Towson, 14-11.
- Hulburt leads her team with eight points—her six goals rank tied for the team lead with Dani Donoghue.
- In goal, Madison Bradley has logged all 120 minutes for the Mountaineers while making 16 saves with a save percentage of .444.
