PHILADELPHIA - After starting their season with a pair of one-goal wins at McCarthy Stadium, La Salle women's lacrosse will go on the road for the first time when they head to Delaware on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. The game will be streamed live on FloSports ($), with live stats available during the game.Â
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- After starting their season with a 14-13 win over Iona, the Explorers improved to 2-0 with a triple-overtime win over previously 2-0 Mount St. Mary's, 10-9.Â
- Emily Johnston's third of three goals served as the game-winner in triple-overtime, her fourth of the campaign.Â
- Maddie Henderson tied Johnston with her own hat trick in the win over the Mountaineers, a career-high.Â
- The Explorers have already had two goalkeepers record a win, as Julia Dellaratta picked up her first career win over Iona before Kelli McGroarty added her first career win against Mount St. Mary's.
- McGroarty made her collegiate debut in the start of the second half, stopping 10 of 14 shots faced including three saves in overtime to help guide La Salle to the victory.Â
- Tori Rolon holds the Explorer lead in goals with five, all coming in La Salle's opener against Iona.Â
- Along with her four goals and five points, Johnston also leads La Salle in draw controls with nine.Â
- Defender Liza Dellaratta leads La Salle with eight ground balls through two games, while Henderson holds the team lead in caused turnovers with nine.Â
SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS:
- Delaware is off to an 0-2 start to their 2022 season, with both losses coming against ranked opponents.Â
- The Blue Hens dropped their season opener at home to No. 16 Rutgers, 8-16 after the Scarlet Knights stormed to an early 10-2 lead.Â
- Delaware then made a trip to Philadelphia, falling on the road to No. 20 Penn, 4-15.Â
- Four Blue Hens are tied for the team lead in goals with two in Riley Gillin, Lizzie Hsu, Sydni Rosa, and Danika Swech.Â
- In goal, Mercy McCarthy and Sophia Foohey have each appeared in both games while each making a start. As a unit, Delaware's goalkeepers have combined to allow 31 goals while making 15 saves through two games.Â
