PHILADELPHIA - La Salle women's lacrosse will stay on the road Saturday, Feb. 26 when they take on Lafayette on 11 a.m. in Easton, Pa.
Saturday's game will be the second on the road for La Salle (2-1), and the first two-game week of the season for the Explorers after facing Delaware on Wednesday, Feb. 23.Â
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:Â
- After starting their season with two wins at home, La Salle dropped their first game of the season in a road loss to Delaware on Wednesday.Â
- Deadlocked at 6-6 late in the first half, the Blue Hens took control of the game with an 8-1 run extending into the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach of the Explorers.Â
- Tori Rolon scored twice in the game for La Salle, extending her team-best mark to seven goals on the season.Â
- Emily Johnston matched Rolon with two goals of her own, along with three draw controls and two ground balls.Â
- An A-10 All-Conference Preseason Team selection, Johnston leads La Salle with 12 draw controls and eight points, while ranking second in goals (7).
- Maddie Henderson also ranks in the top-three on her team in both goals (6) and draw controls (9), and leads La Salle in caused turnovers (4).Â
- On defense, Liza Dellaratta leads the Explorers with 12 ground balls, while Jess Hewitt has also secured six while forcing three turnovers.Â
- Kelli McGroarty and Julia Dellaratta have split time in goal for La Salle, combining to allow 11.43 goals per game while stopping shots at a .507 clip.Â
- In two appearances this season, McGroarty has made 18 saves while conceding just nine goals.Â
- The Explorers have been excellent in close games, securing a pair of one-goal victories including a triple-overtime thriller over Northeast Conference favorite and reigning champion Mount St. Mary's.Â
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS:Â
- After finishing the 2021 season with an 0-6 record, Lafayette is off to an 0-1 start to the season after falling to No. 19 Drexel in their season opener.Â
- The Dragons stormed out to an 11-2 halftime lead, scoring on 11 of their first 18 shots in the half.Â
- Four different Leopards scored for Lafayette, while Sara Bennett lead the team with two points on two assists.Â
- Lexie Coldiron made five saves in net for the Leopards in their season opener.Â
