PHILADELPHIA – Entering their final game of the regular season, the Explorers control their own path to an Atlantic 10 postseason birth as they take on Saint Joseph's on Saturday, April 23 at 12 pm.
With a win, the Explorers (5-11. 3-5 A-10) would clinch a spot in the top-six in the conference standings, sending them to the Atlantic 10 championship tournament starting on April 28.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- After falling to No. 14 UMass in their home finale last Thursday, the Explorers rallied with a comeback win over George Mason on Saturday, 11-10.
- Trailing 5-0 early, La Salle rallied to scored 11 of the final 16 goals to claim their fifth one-goal victory of the season.
- Tori Rolon led the Explorers with four goals in that victory over the Patriots, including the game-winning goal with 4:43 remaining.
- Goalkeeper Kelli McGroarty made 18 saves in the win over Mason, giving her 105 saves this season with only 107 goals allowed for a .495 save percentage.
- Do-it-all midfielder Emily Johnston leads La Salle in goals (38), assists (8), points (46), draw controls (64) and ground balls (32).
- Maddie Henderson has been just as versatile in the La Salle midfield, racking up totals of 23 goals, four assists, 31 ground balls, 38 draw controls, and a team-best 22 caused turnovers.
- Seven different Explorers have accumulated double-digit points for La Salle in 2022 in Johnston, Henderson, Kiki Venza (22), Maddie Dachowski (20), Rolon (18), Claudia Steinmetz (11) and Lola Quigley (10).
- Jess Hewitt, Shannin Cato, Liza Dellaratta, Raquel Nieves and Emily Camuti have handled the bulk of the work defensively for the Explorer backline that has allowed a shot percentage of .421 while causing 120 turnovers and securing 277 ground balls.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:
- Saint Joseph's enters Saturday's game with an overall record of 10-6, including 6-2 in conference play to rank them third in the standings.
- The Hawks lone conference losses have come to first place UMass and second place Richmond.
- St. Joe's has averaged 12.06 goals per game in 2022, while allowing 11.94 per contest.
- Lauren Figura leads the conference with 55 goals, averaging 3.44 per game. Her 63 points rank her tied for second.
- The Hawks also have two players in the top-six in draw controls in Riley Evans (69) and Sophia Kolkka (67).
- Jorden Concordia has made all 16 starts in goal for the Hawks, totaling 156 saves with 187 goals allowed.
