Men's Track and Field | May 13, 2022
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The La Salle men's and women's track and field teams are set to take their winning-momentum into the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by William & Mary, on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15.
LAST TIME OUT (MEN):
- The Explorers had four individual medalists plus a relay at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend.
- The squad of James Ptack, Liam Rivard, Dylan Servis and Brycen Pitre brought home the only gold on the men's side for their 7:40.96 performance in the 4x800-meter relay.
- Rivard claimed a silver of his own following his second-place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:52.89.
- Taonga Mbambo clocked in a time of 30:56.81 in the 10K earning the silver.
- Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky ended the weekend with the second spot on the podium in the 5K recording a time of 14:24.63.
- Dennis Manyeah led the field events for La Salle taking second in the high jump with a mark of 2.05m.
LAST TIME OUT (WOMEN):
- El Mancini set a new meet record in the women's 10K. The senior recorded a time of 33:54.62, nearly two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, to claim the individual gold for the second-straight year.
- Liz Mancini snagged her first career gold for the outdoor championships in the 5K crossing the line first at 16:38.98. She marks the first Explorer to claim gold in the event since sister Grace Mancini did it back in 2009.
- Christine Mancini claimed two silvers in both the 800m and the 1500m. She clocked in at 2:10.96 for the 800m and 4:32.30 for the 1500m.
- Olabisi Adams led the Explorers from the field with the bronze in the long jump reaching a mark of 5.86m.
