PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Liz Mancini,
Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky, and
Liam Rivard of the La Salle men's and women's track and field teams were selected to the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Team, announced Friday.
Mancini had a record-breaking outdoor season complete with a trip to the National Championships. The senior surpassed the program record in the 5,000-meter previously set by her sister
Grace Mancini during the 2021 season. Her record-setting time of 15:56.40 not only punched her first ticket to the NCAA Championships, but was also nearly 42 seconds under her gold-medal winning time of 16:38.98 at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships.
Rivard, who earned a silver medal for his 1:52.89 performance in the 800-meter at the A-10 Outdoor Championships, punched his ticket to the NCAA East Preliminaries with the 35th-best time in the region. He ran in the first heat of the day and finished with a time of 1:49.99 to earn the automatic qualifier to the next round.
Jaciw-Zurakowsky finished off the outdoor season with a silver-medal performance in the 5,000-meter at the A-10 Outdoor Championships. The graduate student recorded a time 1:52.89 to earn the second spot on the podium. He earned the All-Academic nod from the conference following his performance during the indoor season, highlighted by a gold medal in the 3K at the league championships.
Mancini is a nursing major and held a 3.91 GPA. Rivard is a biology major with a 3.79 GPA and Jaciw-Zurakowsky is a CFA Investment Analysis major with a 3.89 GPA. In order to be eligible for All-Area, a student-athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
