PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – La Salle men's soccer head coach
Taylor Thames announced the addition of
Elton Jazexhiu to the staff as assistant coach on Friday.
"We're elated to have Elton and his family join us at La Salle," said Thames. "Elton values relationships and development. His experience and competitive drive are also major components of what he will bring to our environment. We are very excited to get started."
Jazexhiu comes to 20
th & Olney from Western Texas College where he served as the head coach for two seasons recording a 20-5-2 record. He led the Westerners to back-to-back appearances in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament after a 10-year hiatus. His team was recognized with the National Tournament Sportsmanship Award and ranked in DI NJCAA National Polls as a top-10 team two years in a row.
Jazexhiu, a two-time Conference Coach of the Year and District Coach of the Year, has produced two Conference and Regional Players of the Year, two First Team All-Americans, one Third Team All-American, two Conference Tournament MVPs, and 14 All-Region selections.
Prior to his time at WTC, Jazexhiu served as the head assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Salt Lake City Community College. He has spent over 20 years coaching in the state of Utah serving as the Director of Coaching and the head coach for the girl's and boy's premier teams at La Roca FC, as well as a staff coach for the Utah Olympic Development Program.
Jazexhiu, a native of Tirana, Albania, grew up playing soccer for one of the country's premier professional clubs, FK Dinamo Tirana. He studied exercise physiology and coaching at Tirana Sports University from 1992-95 and graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of the Arts in International Studies in 2001.
