Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released their preseason coaches' poll for the upcoming season on Wednesday. The La Salle men's soccer team was voted 11
th amongst the coaches within the conference.
The Explorers totaled 56 points in the poll. Saint Louis (193) was voted as the favorite heading into the 2022 season with Rhode Island (170), VCU (154), Fordham (141), and Loyola Chicago (128) rounding out the top five.
La Salle is coming off a strong end to their 2021 season. They finished the season on a two-game win streak against Columbia and George Mason. In each of those contests they scored four goals and held both opponents to only one goal.
Nigel Buckley enters the 2022 season following a standout senior year. Buckley scored his first career hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Columbia last season. He was also the Explorer's leading scorer tallying seven goals.
The 2022 season is set to kick off at McCarthy Stadium on Friday, August 26
th against Stonehill at 6 p.m. Atlantic 10 play will begin on Saturday, September 17
th against Saint Louis at 7 p.m. in Philadelphia.
