PHILADELPHIA - After setting a new career high for points scored in back-to-back games, sophomore Andres Marrero has been named Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. The Venezuelan connected on six three-pointers, including the game-winning shot from deep with 11 seconds remaining to help lead his team to a 62-61 win.
Three days later, Marrero connected on five more threes and scored 20 points as La Salle went on the road and defeated Lafayette, 67-51. On the week, Marrero averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and made 11 of his 22 three-point field goal attempts (50.0%).
