PHILADELPHIA — Justyce Hollenbach scored a goal in the 69
th minute to help the La Salle women's soccer team earn its third straight victory in Atlantic 10 Conference play by beating VCU, 1-0, on a rainy Thursday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win, the Explorers are now 3-1 in A-10 play and 5-5-2 on the season. The Explorers are 3-1 in A-10 play for the first time since 2019.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half that featured only three shots by both teams, the Explorers started to pick up the pace in the second half. They received two quick shots from Sunni DiElmo in the first minute, both of which were blocked by the Rams.
- Twenty-four minutes later, Hollenbach found the back of the net for her goal off a pass from Giovanna Castorina to give the Explorers the lead.
- From there, the Explorers kept the Rams from putting in the equalizer, coming up with big stops each time.
- The biggest stops came from goalie Michela Auguadro, who saved a shot in the 72nd minute and punched the ball away from the goal off a VCU free kick with 15 seconds left to force the Rams to take a shot from over 30 yards out that went wide of the goal to end the gsme.
GAME NOTES
- Hollenbach's goal marked her fourth score of the season. The sophomore forward now leads the team lead in goals.
- Auguadro and the Explorers earned their third straight shutout victory of the season. Auguadro made three saves in the victory.

- The Explorers will head across the city Sunday to take on rival Saint Joseph's in another A-10 clash. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
